Privacy Policy
NoLag Systems Pty Ltd
We Respect Your Privacy
NoLag Systems Pty Ltd ("we", "us") respects your right to privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect through our website at https://nolag.app (the "Website"), how we use it, and how we handle data from former NoLag Cloud accounts.
We adhere to the Australian Privacy Principles contained in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and, to the extent applicable, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
"Personal information" is information we hold which is identifiable as being about you. This includes information such as your name, email address, or any other information that can reasonably identify an individual, either directly or indirectly.
You may contact us at info@nolag.app for further information about this Privacy Policy.
What This Policy Covers
NoLag is open-source software. NoLag Cloud, our hosted service (including portal.nolag.app, api.nolag.app and broker.nolag.app), was retired in October 2026. The Website no longer offers sign-up, accounts, subscriptions or payments, and we do not collect payment or credit card details.
This policy covers the Website, email you send us, and the data we still hold from former NoLag Cloud accounts. It does not cover the open-source software itself. When you run kraken, @nolag/core or the NoLag SDKs, the data they process stays on infrastructure you control. We do not operate that infrastructure and we do not receive that data.
What Personal Information Is Collected
Analytics
The Website uses two analytics services to understand how it is used and to improve our documentation:
- Google Analytics, provided by Google. It records the pages you view, how you arrived at the Website, your browser, device and operating system, and an approximate location derived from your IP address.
- PostHog, provided by PostHog, Inc. Requests to PostHog are sent through p.nolag.app, a proxy on our own domain, and stored in PostHog's US cloud. PostHog records page views and interactions such as clicks, together with browser, device and approximate location information. PostHog is configured to create a person profile only for visitors who are identified, and the Website never identifies visitors, so your activity is recorded against a random anonymous identifier rather than a profile of you.
Hosting Logs
The Website is hosted on Google Cloud. Like most web hosting, it keeps request logs that include your IP address, browser user agent, the page requested and the time of the request. We use these logs to operate and secure the Website.
If you email us, we receive your email address, your name if you include it, and the contents of your message. We use this only to reply to you and to keep a record of the conversation.
Former NoLag Cloud Accounts
If you held a NoLag Cloud account, the information associated with it (such as your contact details and the configuration of your projects) is retained in archived storage that has been stopped. It is not used for any purpose. You can ask us to delete it at any time by emailing info@nolag.app, preferably from the email address on the account.
How We Use Your Personal Information
We use the personal information described above only to:
- understand how the Website is used and improve its content;
- operate and secure the Website;
- respond to messages you send us;
- handle requests about data from former NoLag Cloud accounts; and
- comply with our legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.
Cookies and Local Storage
Cookies are small files that a website stores in your browser. When analytics is active on the Website:
- Google Analytics sets cookies (such as
_ga) to distinguish visitors and sessions; and - PostHog stores a random anonymous identifier in a cookie and in your browser's local storage, so that it can tell repeat visits apart.
The Website also stores your light or dark theme choice in your browser's local storage. It is never sent to us.
Most web browsers accept cookies automatically, but you can block or delete them in your browser settings, or use a browser extension that blocks analytics. The Website works without them.
Disclosure of Your Personal Information
We share personal information only with the service providers who help us run the Website (Google for hosting and Google Analytics, and PostHog for product analytics), and only as far as they need it to provide those services.
We may disclose your personal information to comply with a legal requirement, such as a law, regulation, court order, subpoena, warrant, legal proceedings or in response to a law enforcement agency request.
If there is a change of control in our business or a sale or transfer of business assets, we reserve the right to transfer, to the extent permissible at law, the personal information we hold, together with any non-personal information.
Hosting and International Data Transfers
The Website is hosted on Google Cloud in Belgium. Google Analytics data is processed by Google, which may process it in the USA and other countries. PostHog data is stored in the USA. Archived data from former NoLag Cloud accounts is held on Google Cloud.
Where personal information is transferred outside Australia or the EU, we rely on the safeguards these providers offer, such as the standard data protection clauses adopted by the European Commission.
General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) for the European Union (EU)
We comply with the principles of data protection set out in the GDPR for the purpose of fairness, transparency and lawful data collection and use.
We rely on our legitimate interests to run analytics on the Website and to keep request logs, on your request when we reply to your email, and on our legal obligations where the law requires us to keep or disclose information. We collect only what is necessary for those purposes.
We do not collect or process any personal information that is considered "Sensitive Personal Information" under the GDPR, such as personal information relating to your sexual orientation or ethnic origin.
Your Rights Under the GDPR
If you are an individual residing in the EU, you have certain rights as to how your personal information is obtained and used. Except as otherwise provided in the GDPR, you have the following rights:
- to be informed how your personal information is being used;
- to access your personal information (we will provide you with a free copy of it);
- to correct your personal information if it is inaccurate or incomplete;
- to delete your personal information (also known as "the right to be forgotten");
- to restrict processing of your personal information;
- to retain and reuse your personal information for your own purposes;
- to object to your personal information being used; and
- to object against automated decision making and profiling.
Please contact us at any time to exercise your rights under the GDPR at the contact details in this Privacy Policy. We may ask you to verify your identity before acting on any of your requests.
Children
The Website is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect or process the personal information of anyone under the age of 16.
Security of Your Personal Information
We take reasonable steps to protect the personal information we hold from misuse, interference, loss and unauthorised access, modification and disclosure. Where we use service providers to process personal information on our behalf, we choose providers that have adequate technical measures in place to protect it.
The transmission of information over the internet is never completely secure, and we cannot guarantee the security of information you transmit to us.
Access to Your Personal Information
You may request details of personal information that we hold about you in accordance with the provisions of the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), and to the extent applicable the EU GDPR. If you would like a copy of the information which we hold about you, or believe that any information we hold on you is inaccurate, out of date, incomplete, irrelevant or misleading, please email us at info@nolag.app.
We reserve the right to refuse to provide you with information that we hold about you, in certain circumstances set out in the Privacy Act or any other applicable law.
Complaints About Privacy
If you have any complaints about our privacy practices, please send details of your complaint to info@nolag.app. We take complaints very seriously and will respond shortly after receiving written notice of your complaint.
